Alice Bachison, Yakima’s First Female Officer, Dies At 94

In 1951, Gen. Douglas MacArthur was relieved of command in the Korean War, Mickey Mantle hit his first home run for the Yankees and the Yakima Police Department hired its first female police officer.

While Alice Bachison spent the bulk of her 32-year career in administration, she is remembered as a pioneer for women in the county’s largest police department who continued to inspire after her retirement.
