Naming Of Stoughton’s First Female Police Chief ‘A Big Deal’

STOUGHTON – The town has its first female police chief, but it will be up to selectmen whether the lieutenant serving as acting head of the department remains in that position.

Lt. Donna McNamara was named the acting police chief Friday by Police Chief Paul Shastany, who has worked his last day but won’t officially retire until April 29.

Shastany also named an acting deputy chief – Lt. Daniel McGowan – who fills a position left vacant by the demotion of Robert Devine, who will return in April as a patrolman. – READ MORE
