LINDEN — Officer Monika Oliveira thought “Why not?” when the city’s police department sent out a notice asking if any of its members would be interested in a police motorcycle training program.
After completing what she describes as the hardest thing she’s done in her seven years on the force, Oliveira is now Linden’s first female motorcycle officer.
“For me, it was to get over the fear of this big huge bike and learning to drop it and knowing that falling off this bike in low-speed exercises is going to be OK,” Oliveira said. “Once I think I got over the mental block of that, it just started getting a little bit easier and a little bit easier and a little bit easier, and then it started being fun.” – READ MORE
