After almost two decades on the force and a lengthy selection process, Jody Kasper, the city’s first female police chief, was sworn in at the historic Academy of Music Theatre Tuesday night.
Kasper, a 40-year-old Easthampton resident, was administered the oath of office by Mayor David J. Narkewicz during the ceremony. Russell P. Sienkiewicz, who retired from the chief position this week, handed his badge over to Kasper with a handshake and a hug.
“These past few months have been an interesting journey, and I am excited that it’s over and for the road that lies ahead,” Kasper said. – READ MORE
