An Ann Arbor police officer, who is one half of the first gay couple to marry in Washtenaw County, is suing the department and city claiming discrimination.

Elizabeth Patten, 52, claims she was routinely passed over for promotion and special assignments based on her sex, according to the lawsuit filed Aug. 4 in the Washtenaw County Trial Court

Patten’s attorney, Mia Johnson of Troy-based Gold Star Law, Inc., said they are currently in process of filing a separate, federal suit with different, but similar allegations. READ MORE
