Female Police Officer Sues College For Racial And Gender Discrimination – MARSHALL – Claiming she was a victim of racial and sexual discriminatory acts so severe that she attempted suicide, a female police officer has filed a lawsuit against the college campus where she worked.
Arguing violations of her civil rights, Adriana Victoria Rivera filed suit against Texas State Technical College at Marshall on Aug. 29 in the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division.
Rivera is a Hispanic female, who was employed by the defendant as a police officer on the Marshall campus from June 1, 2007, until July 13, 2009. Read more
Detroit Police Chief Suspended Over allegation Affair With Officer – Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr. was suspended Tuesday amid accusations that he had an affair with a female police officer — the second sex scandal to tarnish his tenure since he took the helm in 2010.
An attorney for Detroit Police Officer Angelica Robinson, who works in internal affairs, told the Free Press his client has been in a relationship with Godbee for “many months.” Read more
Calgary Police Look To recruit More Women Officers –(story & video) – Calgary police put the local media to the test today, at a conference aimed at getting more women to choose a career in law enforcement.
Media members could try out a variety of recruitment obstacles including a five-foot fence, body control station and a simulated hand cuffing station. Read more
Peel’s First Female Police Chief Sworn-in – Peel Region’s first-ever female police chief was sworn in on Friday.
The ceremony to mark Jennifer Evans’ first day on duty as Peel’s top cop happened at 10:45 a.m. at the Mississauga Convention Centre. “I want to say how honoured I am to have been selected to lead this great organization into the future,” Evans said. Read more

Woman working: Female Officer Juggles Work, Family – Marietta police officer Katie Warden didn’t follow in the family footsteps when she decided to go into law enforcement. She just followed her heart.
“My dad works at Washington State and my brother is a chef,” she said. “But this is something I’ve known that I always wanted to do.” Warden has been with the Marietta police department for 11 years and is only the third female officer in the history of the department. Read more
Senior Cop Investigated For Sexually Harassing Females – A senior Israeli police officer was investigated on Monday following allegations that he sexually harassed a number of female police officers.
The officer, whose name has not been released, is a district commander. Read more
Mandy Rayner: Family Marks 30 Years Since Police Officer Was Killed – Mandy Rayner became the first female police officer to be killed in service on mainland Britain when she was run down by a drink driver in 1982.
Thirty years on, the family of the 18-year-old from Luton says she was robbed of the opportunity to have children and continue her career. Read more
Taylor Names 1st Female Police Officer – Taylor —The city’s police department made history Friday with the appointment of the first female chief in its 63-year history.
Mayor Jeffrey Lamarand appointed Cmdr. Mary Sclabassi as chief of police. She succeeds Chief Dale Tamsen, who is retiring Oct. 28 after 26 years of service to the department. Read more
Newton Police Officer Clais Abuse, Seeks Damages of $500,000 – A Newton police officer is seeking $500,000 in damages from the city, accusing top-ranking police department officials of making inappropriate and offensive comments toward her.
The female officer claims former Police Chief Matthew Cummings and Capt. Christopher Marzilli made the comments toward her during and after her 2011 pregnancy. She also alleges that department and city officials called her a “liar” when she reported inappropriate behavior on the part of a doctor working for the city approximately a decade ago. Read more
Brown County Deputy Honoured As State’s Top Female Cop – BELLEVUE — Brown County Sheriff’s deputy Tracy Steffens is the Wisconsin Association of Women Police’s “Woman Officer of the Year.”
Steffens, a nine-year veteran, is Bellevue’s directed enforcement officer, which is similar to a community policing officer. She has held that role for about a year and works with village residents to address nuisance properties, drug issues and traffic concerns. Steffens said her work to stop troublemakers has led to eight evictions and limited nuisance issues at four properties. Steffens also developed relationships with “big-box stores” to limit retail thefts and helped set up a few Neighborhood Watch groups within the village, she said. Read more
Female Police Officers Tell Court Constable Indecently Assaulted Her – A drunk police officer was indecently assaulted by a colleague as she sat in his car, a court heard on Monday.
The female officer said Gary Cryans, a constable with Strathclyde Police, drove her and a friend home from a night out in June 2009, because she was so intoxicated. Read more
Woman Police Officer Molested Assaulted Inside Police Station; 7 Arrested – Mumbai: The police have arrested seven persons for allegedly assaulting and molesting a woman police officer inside the police station located on the outskirts of Mumbai. Two other women police personnel including male cops were also thrashed by the mob.
Pritam Muthe, Assistant Police Inspector (API), received minor injuries on Sunday night when some goons attacked her while she was registering a case of abduction of minor girl at the Virar Police Station. Read more
Toronto’s Police Chief Credits Young Female Officer For Arrest – Toronto’s police chief says it was the work of young female officers who put themselves “in harm’s way” that led to the arrest of a 15-year-old male in connection with more than dozen sexual assaults in the Bloor-Christie area since August.
The teen, who was not previously known to police, was arrested on Roxton Road near Bloor Street West Saturday evening after allegedly approaching a victim from behind and sexually assaulting her. He was apprehended at the scene. Read more
Harassment In RCMP Fostered By Male-Dominance And Paramilitary Culture: Paulson – (story & video) – OTTAWA – The male-dominated, paramilitary culture within the RCMP helped create an environment within the force in which sexual harassment became a conceivable and not-uncommon occurrence, RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson said in an exclusive interview Sunday.
“I think we’ve struggled,” he said during an appearance on the Global News program The West Block with Tom Clark. “We haven’t kept up-to-date with society, and it’s caught up to us.” Read more

Female Officer Accepts The Risks Of Undercover Work – The job requirements could hardly be more off-putting: Hang out in dark, deserted places and try to entice sexual predators. And yet, according to those who study law enforcement, the female officers who are pressed into decoy work couldn’t be more keen.
“Going into my research, I thought they must hate this, standing around waiting for men to pick them up or abuse them in some way,” said Mary Dodge, criminal justice programs director at the University of Colorado Denver. “To my surprise, they love it. It takes them out of the drudgery of the job and gives them experience in undercover work, a field mostly dominated by men.” Read more
Feds Deny Female Mounties’ Harassment Allegations – The federal government has responded to a lawsuit filed by a female Mountie in B.C.
Const. Karen Katz’s lawsuit claimed Cpl. Baldev “David” Singh Bamra complained about her to other officers, engaged in inappropriate roughhousing and on one occasion pushed his genitals against her — all allegations that haven’t been tested in court. Read more
