After 23 years in the New Zealand Police, Senior Sergeant Cynthia Fairley is proud of the career she forged.

Growing up in a big family in Stirling, in South Otago, Fairley completed a degree in accounting but couldn’t see herself sitting behind a desk all day.

Cliches aside, she had a genuine desire to help people and make a difference so she joined the police force.
