SOUTH KINGSTOWN—Joyce Comstock sat at her desk at the South Kingstown Police Department Wednesday, reflecting fondly on her years of service.
“I’ve been here so long,” she said, “it’s like my second home.”

After over three decades—32.8 years, to be precise—on the job, Comstock Wednesday worked her final shift as a South Kingstown patrol sergeant.

Hired as a patrol officer in 1984 by former chief of police Vincent Vespia and town manager Stephen Alfred, Comstock was the first woman to join the South Kingstown Police Department. – READ MORE
