Sichuan’s Ya’an Bids Farewell to Young, Dedicated Female Police Officer – All China Women’s Federation

Zhao Xiaoli, a female traffic officer in Ya’an, a city in southwest China’s Sichuan Province, passed away at the young age of 33 on April 1, bidding farewell to her beloved career and family.

In March 2013, Zhao felt an unusual bit discomfort but didn’t think too much of it, going on to join the rescue team in the province’s Lushan County, which was struck by a magnitude-7 earthquake on April 20 that same year.

After painstaking work lasting over a month, Zhao’s discomfort continued even after the intense labor did not; and it was at that point that she was diagnosed with a malignant Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST), eventually undergoing surgery in June 2013 for its treatment. But in spite of the operation, Zhao and her family were told by the doctor that GIST has a high rate of relapse and would more than likely cause her body to deteriorate sooner or later. – READ MORE
