Laura Boland fell in love with policing when she was a child.
Born and raised in small town Nova Scotia, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police constable saw the familiar Mountie uniforms all over her community. Then, in Grade 9, she went on a ride along with an RCMP officer as part of a school project. The officer, a woman, set the course for Boland’s life.
The RCMP has jurisdiction over most Nova Scotia communities, said Boland, a 10-year veteran of the force. If one were to call 911, the RCMP would show up, she explained, adding the officer she shadowed was an inspiration. – READ MORE
