The first woman to serve as a police officer in Plymouth has revealed how she was put to work the day after signing up and went on to tackle unexploded bombs, fake fortune tellers and a Royal visit.

Officers today will go through months of training and assessment before being allowed to don the uniform and will then work closely alongside senior officers until they are fully qualified.
