Transcending traditional gender roles, the presence of female law enforcement officers has, over the years, experienced rapid growth within the countless departments across the nation.
Recently, the Newbern Police Department welcomed its very first female police officer and native resident April Cochran. Straight out of the academy, Cochran sought a position with the Newbern Police Department, bringing with her high recommendations from numerous academy instructors.
Born and raised in the small town of RoEllen, 26-year old April Cochran grew up with aspirations of being a law enforcement officer.
