More Than 330 RCMP Women Allege On-The-Job Harassment

Although some women have achieved successful and meaningful careers as Mounties, more than 300 other female employees have joined a proposed class action lawsuit alleging systemic sexual harassment in the RCMP.

In the two years since a lawyer first filed the paperwork in court, 336 former and current female Mounties and civilian workers have joined the action — claiming they were subjected to gender-based discrimination, bullying and harassment while working for the national police force.

A certification hearing is required for this to be approved as a class-action suit, and that has been re-scheduled to June 2015. As more and more women joined the suit, the certification date was delayed to give lawyers time to gather evidence about the women’s claims and to prepare for the trial. – READ MORE
