Having worked at the Nogales Police Department for more than 20 years, Lt. Veronica Hernandez is the first woman to serve two decades on the city’s force.
She was also NPD’s first female sergeant, first female HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) supervisor and, following a promotion last August, the department’s first female lieutenant.
For Hernandez, who plans to put in another nine years or more at NPD, climbing the ladder has been about proving not only that she can do so in a male-dominated profession, but also to serve as an example for other female law enforcement officers. – READ MORE
