Female Police Officer Blasted With Shotgun While Answering Routine Call

A female police officer who was on only her second night shift with a neighbourhood response unit was blasted with a shotgun at point blank range as she attended a routine call.

Surgeons battled to save the hand of the 33-year-old West Yorkshire Police officer, who was described as being in a “poorly but stable” condition in hospital.

The WPC, who had only just joined the neighbourhood response team in the hope of enjoying more excitement, was shot in the hand, neck and face as she attended an address in the Hyde Park district of Leeds in the early hours of yesterday morning. Read more
