Police in Eastern Pennsylvania are searching for a man who allegedly attacked a female police officer on Wednesday, throwing her down a steep embankment.

West Penn Township police officer Melissa Ruch was reportedly assaulted after stopping to investigate a disabled vehicle on Route 309 at about 6 p.m., the Times News reports.

According to Police Chief Brian Johnson, as Officer Ruch approached the car a black male picked her up and threw her over the guard rail and down the embankment. Her officer down alert went off as she fell more than 35 feet and police rushed to the scene, but the man had left by the time they arrived. – READ MORE
