Female Officer Joins The Hawthorne Police Department

The police department has a new member of the force, who graduated at the top of her police academy class and will be the only female officer on the squad.

Officer Tonya Schneider, 23, of Hawthorne, was ceremonially sworn in at the April 1 council meeting by Mayor Richard Goldberg.

Schneider graduated from Passaic County Police Academy on March 18, where she was enrolled in the alternate route program and was later hired by the borough. She graduated with the Academic Achievement Award for achieving the highest test score average in the class. – READ MORE
