MANLIUS, NY – A Manlius police officer has filed legal papers in which she alleges she was sexually harassed, exposed to a hostile work environment and discriminated against at the town police department.

Kerry Wolongevicz, 35, who has worked in law enforcement for eight years – 6 1/2 in Manlius – filed a notice of claim on Aug. 3 saying she may sue over workplace conduct that she says violated her civil rights. She also has filed a complaint with the New York State Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Syracuse.com has obtained a copy of her notice of claim.

Wolongevicz alleges in her notice of claim that Manlius police officers graphically and repeatedly talked on the job about having sex on and off the job. She alleges one officer made vulgar remarks about private parts. Another officer said he was sick of women police officers and told her she should find another job.

Wolongevicz also alleges when she complained to a supervisor she was told she should learn to communicate better. She also alleges she was told she would be disciplined if she complained to the town supervisor. – READ MORE
